Breast imaging services
We understand that early detection is key to successful breast cancer treatment. That’s why our highly skilled team of breast health specialists utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic tools to offer you a wide range of breast imaging services, including:
- 3D mammography: An advanced imaging technique that captures multiple images of the breast from different angles, creating a detailed, layered view for more accurate cancer detection.
- Breast localizations: A procedure that uses imaging techniques to pinpoint the exact location of abnormal tissue in the breast for biopsy or surgery.
- Breast ultrasounds: A non-invasive imaging test that uses sound waves to create detailed images of the breast, often used to evaluate lumps or abnormalities.
- High risk evaluations: These assessments are for individuals with an elevated risk of breast cancer, often involving advanced screening techniques and genetic counseling to determine a personalized care plan.
At our facility, patients have access to a team of talented breast specialists, physicians and skilled staff who are dedicated to providing comprehensive breast health care. Our patient navigator works closely with every individual and their loved ones, offering support and coordinating resources from diagnosis through the completion of treatment to minimize stress. We have mammography and ultrasound technologists certified in mammography, as well as board-certified and fellowship-trained breast imagers.
Additionally, our board-certified medical and radiation oncology providers are part of the Hackensack Meridian Health network, ensuring expert cancer care. Our team also includes board-certified and fellowship-trained breast surgeons, lymphedema specialists in physical therapy, and a surgical team of reconstructive plastic surgeons, all working together to deliver exceptional care.
High risk evaluations
If you have a family history of breast cancer or you’ve had an abnormal biopsy, you may be concerned about developing cancer. However, your risk may actually be lower than you think. In fact, the vast majority of women who fall into those categories are able to achieve greater clarity and peace of mind by seeking risk and genetic testing.
An oral rinse or blood test is all that’s needed to conduct BRCA genetic testing. This test is important because:
- BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes are known as tumor suppressors and mutation of those genes has been linked to hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.
- A woman’s risk of developing breast and/or ovarian cancer is increased if she inherits a BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation. (Men with these mutations also have an increased breast cancer risk.)
If a harmful BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation is detected, there are several options available to help manage cancer risk and they will be clearly explained in one-on-one discussions. A personalized preventive and early intervention plan will be developed in consultation with our multidisciplinary team of experts.
